Arc of Herstory
Arc of Herstory
On this day
In history: this day,
This exact day,
This very moment:
We made history
As then now-passed nows
Fell, in time, behind.
Or should we have lingered longer?
Tomorrow,
Today endures, it sticks
As yesterdays dew
On lips, fingers, loves:
Prisms, lives soot-bound,
Forged where black and blue
And soft grey matter.
Or should they have mattered longer?
Horizons stretch,
Dividing sky from sea,
Spaces from heavens,
Ceiling-connecting:
Correcting heres and
Theres. Refracted chards:
Hope from boundary,
Should we have present’d longer?
Or maybe time,
Like memory recurs,
Circling around:
Deep dark—black—discounts,
Popular recounts,
Same old history—
Same bowed herstory.
Or should we have arc’d on longer?
